What Is Motivation?

Motivation can be explained as the human need to maximize pleasure and minimize pain. This means that you can be motivated away from something you don’t want for example ‘I don’t want to smoke weed’ or ‘I don’t want to be depressed.’ You can also be motivated towards something you want, for example ‘I want to quit smoking Weed, I want to spend the money on something better, I want to be happy.’

How To Get Motivated

Step 1

What Is Your Goal? (Quitting Weed!)

Not having a goal is like getting in a car without a destination, you would just be driving around never going anywhere. Having a goal is great but you must write it down, it then goes from being a thought to being real and tangible. Think about you your goal often, don’t focus on what you have to do in order to achieve your goal (that won’t increase your motivation) just focus on then end result.

Step 2

Have A Time Frame

Now that you know what you want, you now need to decide when you want to achieve it. Do you want to quit today, next week, next month or next year? If you just say ‘I want to quit smoking Weed’ then you probably will one day. But when you say ‘I want to stop smoking Weed today’ then it becomes much more achievable. You then start to think of ways you can quit today instead of just wanting to quit whenever.

Most people don’t believe or are scared of quitting today but it’s good to remember that quitting weed is something to be excited by and not something to worry about. Think of all the things you will have when you quit and you’ll see that it’s worth quitting as soon as you can.

Step 3

Why Do You Want To Quit?

With enough reasons ‘why’ we can achieve any ‘how.’ If you have enough reasons to quit then you will find quitting much easier, your reasons to quit will motivate you when your not sure if you want to stop or not. I’m sure that during the quitting process you will ask yourself a few time ‘do I really want to quit?’ When you think of your reasons to quit then you’ll have no doubt that quitting is the only option because it’s the beginning of a new you, a more confident, happier, better you. And like many Weed smokers you will probably be kicking yourself that you didn’t quit sooner!
